What is the Trypophobia?
Trypophobia is an aversion to the sight of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps. Simply put, the fear of holes. Some people are so afraid of this that there are so many people in the world who are scared when they see something like lotus flower seeds, small bumps on a strawberry, or holes in a hive. People with this phobia are afraid of all sorts of things with holes. The following are some of the things that cause such fear.
- Lotus seeds
- Coral reef
- Swiss cheese
- Aluminum metal form
- A bunch of eyes
The above are just a few examples. Seeing holes is not a problem for the average person. But many people with the disease have a lot of discomforts when they see these holes.
- The body feels uncomfortable
- Disgust & fear
- Rapid breathing
Is Trypophobia a mental illness?
Research on this phobia has been going on since 2013. Scientists at the time determined that this was due to the colors and patterns in the perforated objects and pictures. But a new study in 2017 found that some people are actually scared when they see so many holes. But these people are not afraid of holes. These holes cause those people in their minds to fear something. When they see the holes, they associate it with something they are afraid of and that factor emerges and frightens them. What holes do is only bring out the fear that is hidden in the heart. For these reasons, this phobia called Trypophobia is not accepted as a true phobia. This is something that people have adopted. There is no such mental disorder.
Does this affect mental illness?
This can actually lead to mental illness. Many patients who have this phobia or fear of these holes are people with a mental disorder called general anxiety disorder (GAD) or major depressive disorder. So if a person is very afraid of pores he is most likely to have GDA or major depressive disorder. GDA refers to people who are unnecessarily worried about something. They think big about small things. These people are under a lot of pressure because they think deeply about unnecessary things. Major depressive disorder is a state of being a little more mature in depression. It is Severe depression. So having Trypophobia is a small risky situation to mental illness.
Is there a cure for Trypophobia?
There is a treatment for this Trypophobia. So there is nothing to be afraid of. These are psychological issues. So therapies are treatments for this phobia. If someone is afraid of pores, talk to a doctor and they will decide which therapy is right for you. This is not an accepted phobia. But research shows that some people with phobias have different mental disorders. But there is no need to be afraid of this. There are treatments for this.
